The first week of school went pretty good. I was really worried about taking an AP class especially in literature. I was nervous because ever since I was a little kid I was always a slow reader and I would struggle with understanding a few words. In AP lit we had a pretty easy start but I do expect it to get harder or more challenging as the year goes on.
Already I have found a book that I am interested in and I have learned a lot more about reading, writing and critical thinking. There’s not a lot of people I know personally in my class but there are a few. I think that having a class with a lot of my friends is a pain in the butt for me because I always get distracted easily by them so I am lucky that I barely know anyone.
For me something important I learned was the reading rate. The reading rate is something that is probably going to stick with me all throughout my life because there are going to be times in college and when I am older where I can use the knowledge of the reading rate to get books read on time. Another thing I like about AP lit is that it’s okay if you’re a slow reader or if you’re not that creative it just means that you have to try harder to succeed.
